Hi there! This is Hope, the founder of Family Scripts. Normally I’d share some Meal Inspiration on a Thursday, but today I want to ask for your help:
What would you like to see in this newsletter? Should this even be a newsletter, or should it go in a different direction completely? I genuinely want to know how to serve my readers better.
I made a survey here. If you either fill out the survey, reply to this email with some input, or comment some feedback, you will be entered to win a $50 Amazon gift card. (There usually aren’t that many entrants for these types of things; your chances of winning are good 😉)
I don’t take it lightly that I have your time at this moment, or that each day a new email pops up in your inbox and potentially becomes one more piece of clutter that stresses out your brain. Thank you so much for reading.
This newsletter launched on December 28, so as I think about how I want Family Scripts to look for the rest of this year and transitioning into next year, I’ve been tossing around a lot of ideas. Maybe Family Scripts shouldn’t even be a Substack newsletter but something totally different.
I would also love to be able to do more contests and giveaways when the readership on here grows more, but I’m not sure the best ways to grow because I honestly don’t know what people are looking for.
Here are some brainstorming ideas. Obviously, I can’t implement all of these, but I would love to hear which are of interest to you. I don’t know what the pricing would look like.
Videos for kids that talk about the monthly theme, show how to do the activities, and, best of all, keep your kids busy for a bit so you have some time to yourself 😉
An audio option so you can listen to the newsletters
For the meal inspiration emails: instead of sharing ideas for multiple different meals, focus on mastering one type of meal each week (example: carbonara, bean stew, etc.) and figure out how to make it a bunch of different ways
In-person Family Scripts meetups or retreats
A snail-mail option—maybe monthly, or quarterly?—with all the printed goods sent to you. Maybe even have it all come in a magazine?
A quarterly subscription box with lots of stuff
A welcome packet when people sign up for a paid membership
Since I homeschool my kids, it’s definitely a time sacrifice to create this newsletter as a part-time job, and I’m happy to do it—you have no idea how much joy it gives me to work on this—but I want Family Scripts to be worth my time and yours.
Oh, and here’s a picture of what I mean most of the time when I say “we,” the Family Scripts team ❤️ My husband and kids have been so supportive (and patient) as I create this thing.
Thanks so much for your feedback. Here’s a link to the survey. I’ll reach out to the winner of the gift card on Monday, September 19th.
Warmly,
Hope from Family Scripts
P.S. If you were really looking forward to meal inspiration ideas today, try the emails from February 14, June 9, or August 18; those are particularly yummy collections 😉
