June 7 // Pretend Airport (with lots of free printables!)
your kids are going to love this one :)
Many families are preparing for travel this summer, so why not spend some time making a pretend airport?
There are so many things you can do with this and lots of cool ideas on Pinterest, but we kept it fairly simple. The great thing about imaginative play is that as a parent, you can get it started, but the kids can take over like wildfire and think of things you never could’ve come up with.
I handed my daughter the printables—the download at the bottom of the email—and she cut them out and started taping things to walls. She drew her own map of the airport and made a welcoming little check-in station.
I cut some watercolor paper into ovals and let the kids design the view from their plane windows.
You can assign roles to each person and let them try out a couple careers.
We cut the sides out of a box and the security guard slid the bags through the X-ray machine.
The pilots used markers as joysticks and thoroughly enjoyed making announcements to the cabin. The flight attendant warmly checked in on the passengers and gave them snacks and drinks. Check out the view from those windows!
The kids in my home had a blast with this activity, and I’m excited to hear about what your kids come up with! It’s great to do with friends.
Here’s a PDF of the printables. I spent kind of a long time designing these because it was so fun 😅
Enjoy!
Warmly,
Hope from Family Scripts

I LOVE this. It reminds me of Tina Fey's family's airplane dinner: https://youtu.be/1Pa5GHvswWI
So fun!!! What a great idea!
