Hey everyone! This is Hope; I’m currently the primary writer and content creator for Family Scripts. (If you want to skip to the short survey, click here.)
I am so excited about this newsletter. So excited. Want to know something that’s put a lot of wind in my sails for this project? My husband has started staying home with the kids more, and he told me that he really wants Family Scripts to exist for him. While I was at the co-work space working on the newsletter, he cooked the recipes I wrote out for him and did a craft with the kids that he saw on the Family Scripts instagram. This newsletter brought inspiration to my own husband.
To be transparent, I sometimes get really frustrated and weighed down by my own brain. My thoughts are racing constantly—and always have been—and I wish it was easier for me to just stay focused during cleaning, a workout, or a conversation. But working on this project has helped me see that the way my brain works is a gift, and maybe I can bring some creativity and open-mindedness to others who are strong in the ways I wish I was.
Anyway, two things regarding the newsletter:
I am committed to making this newsletter ad-free and sponsor-free, so it’s going to need to be a paid subscription after awhile because I’m spending a ton of time and resources on it. But I decided to make it free until I build a following, gain some momentum, and work out the best way to format this. Before I swtich to a paid subscription model, I’ll make sure to give promo codes to you all though 😉
I am creating a lot of content for this thing. I was planning on sending out one email each week for meal planning, and one email that has everything else. Plus I’ll send out an email before the beginning of the month that has a master supply list, grocery list, and library list.
But I wonder: would it be easier for you if I split the emails up into 5 daily emails? It’d be like Tuesday: Activities + Discussions, Tuesday: Parenting Pep Talk + Challenges, Wednesday: Meal Inspiration, Thursday: Book Club, Friday: Flexible (travel destination highlights, reader questions, etc.) I like that option better but I don’t want to weary your inbox.
I made a Google form survey here and if you could take a minute to fill that out or simply reply to this email and tell me what you are looking for in a newsletter, that would mean a lot.
Either way, I have confidence in this project, and if it’s not for you, that’s totally fine. (“As soon as you’re willing to say ‘it’s not for you’, you’re freed up to make art.” – Seth Godin.)
Anyway, thanks for reading! I’m so excited!
