Hello!
I hope you’ve been enjoying the newsletters this month. Next week you’ll only get two emails so you can focus on pondering and trying the things we’ve talked about this month. Hopefully it’s been a big time of personal growth for you!
I would love to hear in the comments some things you’ve been thinking through this month. Maybe we can have some discussion on this page? (If you only get the emails, you can go on FamilyScripts.com to see the web versions or download the free Substack app.)
Here are some questions that can get you started. Pick one or two (or nine!) that resonate with you the most!
And, more importantly than discussing in this space, ask your kids, spouse, extended family, whoever! I like to choose a warm evening at golden hour, sit on our back patio, give each kid (and my husband) a Luigi’s Italian Ice—because it takes forever to eat those—and while I have a captive audience, I ask them some of the questions. They love this little monthly tradition so much, and I suspect your family will love it too. You can save it to your phone by holding down on the image or taking a screenshot.
I’m excited to hear from you! This community has been the most life-giving part of this whole Family Scripts endeavor.
Warmly,
Hope and the Family Scripts Team
P.S. Here are the questions typed out, if that’s easier for you!

One of my favorite memories of being outside was when I was a kid, and all the neighborhood kids would come over and we'd play freeze tag and snake barefoot on the freshly mown soft summer grass until dark.
Getting outside cures every bad mood. I’m grouchy- I go outside and it’s like I instantly slow down and relax. After your challenge to get outside more, we started cooking a meal over the fire pit weekly. We didn’t have a table so we ate with plates on our laps. And then Adam decided to make us a picnic table. This is a weekly tradition that I will continue. I love it so much. We cook zucchini, potatoes and smoked sausage altogether in a cast iron skillet over the fire. It’s not fancy, but it’s good and being outside is the best part. I may not be as excited about this come mosquito time, but I’m already stocking up on mosquito repellent stuff.
