We love the library! We discovered the children's take home bags that include 2-3 books and an educational toy on a theme. I've also been able to get take home adult crafts - tiny canvas art, photo exposure prints, beading, etc. So thankful for libraries and librarians!
Great idea with the legos! I'll have to try the escape room prompt. My daughter started Kindergarten last week and it has been a very hard transition so far. I welcome your permission to let August be August.
Kinder is brutal! I agree with setting an early bedtime, and just be ready for an over tired babe all afternoon. My daughter would be asleep before we left the parking lot!
The transition to kindergarten is rough! If you're open to reassurance, it does get better after about a month. I put both of my new kinders to bed earlier than normal for awhile, to help them rest their brains and hearts, and just heaped as much extra patience, compassion, and understanding upon them as I could. Hang in there!
Nice to read what you’re doing with the kids. The library was a saving grace for me as a child and 2 of the 4 kids embraced its myriad values as well. As for August, things are cooling down somewhat (pun intended) after a busy June and July. Have been writing and posting a lot from my corner of the universe. Happy last few weeks of summer!
Lovely post. We are big library users and every day I’m grateful we live in a city with such a large collection. This August is very stressful and busy for me, work wise, because I have a big deadline on Sept 1, but i am still enjoying flower walks and easy low key activities with my kids.
Playing with Legos is one of my favorite parts of being a parent. We have a giant bag of Duplos that we take with us RVing, and it is so much fun to sit and build.
I snap up Lego idea books whenever I see them. I probably use them more than anyone -- my husband's BRAIN seems to be a Lego idea book, whereas mine is not so much -- but I find them inspiring and fun to browse.

Our small town library is so incredible. I'm always impressed with the events for all ages. I just wish I got to more of them!
