These are great ideas. I love the digital break images. I'm going to try to put my phone away as soon as I walk in the door. My kids deserve my full attention.
Yes! 1000 times yes! I often feel like I’m willingly giving away valuable time and mental energy to something that isn’t giving me much back. Some social media is valuable, but it is often like stress eating. I know it’s not good and yet I keep doing it. Where is my self control?? But then I think the creators behind these platforms have figured out how to make it so very addictive. Taking breaks is very wise and probably necessary.
Thank you for this. I have noticed that I sometimes turn to Youtube for entertainment if I am feeling sad, discouraged, tired, etc. It's sort of like emotional eating. It is a huge attention and productivity robber.
Wow I never thought of the emotional eating comparison! That is way too true. YouTube snatches me up too. I quit one social media platform and then find my way back to doomscrolling some way or another.
Currently taking a social media break this month, as I've been taking one seasonally since reading Digital Minimalism. Always a nice reset.
Seasonal is such a good idea! "Reset" is a really good word. I hope this break is particularly rich for you! ❤️

That is a super good goal. I've even put mine in a sock ("phone sleeping bag") to help forget about it when I'm trying to be present with the kids 😅

Wow, yes! I wish it wasn't so relatable to me, but absolutely. It's an opportunity to model self-control--AND showing ourselves grace--for our kids ❤️

This is great, Hope. I don’t struggle with this (much), but sometimes even I need a reset and this was a lovely reminder.
I am so glad that there are people who exist who don't struggle as much as I do 😅 You're one of the most productive people I know of!
